About Dr. East

My story

With a commitment to helping others actualize their full potential and wellbeing, I have been a licensed acupuncturist and practitioner of integrative medicine since 1999.
My private practice has focused on the use of East Asian Medicine, nutrition and aromatherapy in the treatment of fertility, anti-aging/rejuvenation, sports therapy, and over-all well-being. For several years I worked with the San Diego Fertility Center offering pre and post Assisted Reproductive Therapy (ART) treatments and in 2013 I was invited to join the Mind Body Medical Group at the Chopra Center in Carlsbad, California.
In 2010 I founded Gem Elixirz TM a company offering unique aromatherapy products that combine the power of aromatherapy and gemstones for the purpose of transformative healing and well-being.
In addition to my private practice, running Gem Elixirz and raising two amazing children, I share my passion for natural medicine as a professor, and clinical supervisor, at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California. Classes I have taught include: Master’s Program classes – Acupuncture and Channels 1, 2 and 4, Western Nutrition, Medical Report Writing, Intro to Clinical Observation, Intro to Associate Internship, Associate Intern Diagnosis and Evaluation, Oriental Medicine 7/DTD4 (Gynecology and Obstetrics); Doctoral Program classes – Practice Based Learning and Inter-Professional Communications.
My formal education includes a BA in Business, a Master’s Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine and a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, with my research and clinical trial focused on combining aromatherapy with acupuncture.
As an approved Continuing Education Provider for acupuncturists, I hold various workshops on subjects such as: Incorporating Aromatherapy into your Practice & Life, Ageless – Ancient and Modern Day Secrets to Longevity & Facial Rejuvenation, Creating Exceptional Treatment Experiences, The Art of Practice and The Business of Acupuncture. In addition, I am a guest speaker and lecturer at The Pacific Symposium, The Chopra Center in San Diego, Emerson Ecologics Ignite Conference, Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, Palomar Hospital and other community venues. I’d love to speak at your venue just contact me.
My newest endeavor is writing. While I have written several articles I will be publishing my first book this year: “More Than A Treatment: How to Create Exceptional Experiences That Increase Patient Satisfaction and Improve Treatment Outcomes. A native to Southern California, I love surfing, running, biking, snowboarding/skiing, SCUBA, triathlons (IRONMAN finisher Arizona – 2008), yoga, meditation and traveling abroad. Feedback & Reviews

“More good news that I trace back to your class. Since I wrote, I worked the Las Vegas Sevens Rugby Tournament and provided 45 acupuncture treatments, March 2019. In June 2019, I worked with the Samoa Rugby Union in Paris, at the international Rugby Sevens tournament. Today I signed a contract as the Team Acupuncturist for the SF 49ers.”

“One of your strengths is your ‘can do’ attitude. You show that it can be done. You take big, often overwhelming concepts etc and make them accessible. Oh, and you are always fun, never boring.”
